Although the A.T.E.S. (Avalanche Terrain Exposure Scale) has been around since the early 2000's internationally its only been introduced into the curriculum of most USA Avalanche Education providers in the last 2-3 years.

Its a really easy concept to use, and compliments (but does not replace) forecasts, aspects, elevation information, etc to plan your ski tour or zones for a days snowmobiling.

We've used it for over a decade in our international experience and thought we add some videos to a YouTube Playlist to help teach and spread the understanding of A.T.E.S. concepts.

Ride on!
